Supporter's Scholarships Keep on Giving to CDH Students
When Russ Sudeith arrived at Cretin High School, he was the first in his family to attend a private school or go to college. He thrived at Cretin, graduating in 1958 in the top third of his class. He eventually went on to practice law in the Twin Cities.
Now retired, Russ says his strongest ties to the school are the lifelong friendships, as well as the lasting impact the Christian Brothers had on him and his peers.
"Cretin had a great overall influence about living a good life and being responsible, not just for yourself, but for others," he says. "The Brothers were great examples of how you can live a life and be of service."
Those lessons inspired him to provide significant support to what is now Cretin-Derham Hall.
Between traveling and spending time with his two sons, grandchildren and companion, Russ kept up with the school's work and remained impressed with the international programs and scholarships for students from all backgrounds.
"As I've watched the school over the years, I've been very proud of what they're doing and how they're progressing," he says.
As an attorney who specialized in mergers and acquisitions, Russ tapped his business expertise as he considered making a future gift to CDH. He decided to use a portion of his retirement plan assets to create an endowment at CDH that will keep on giving.
"I can't think of a better way to give back to the school and the community," he says.
